  • Neither the Belgian Malinois (Leinie’s breed) or the Irish Terrier (Pepper’s breed) have ever won a Best in Show at Westminster.

  • In 2007 the Dandi Dinmont Terrier that won best in Terrier Group was co-owned by the comedian Bill Cosby. The dog’s name is Harry.

  • 169 Breeds and varieties from 7 different groups will be judged over a two day period.

  • There are four new breeds eligible for the first time at Westminster in 2008: the Plott (Hound Group), the Tibetan Mastiff (Working), the Swedish Valhund(Herding) and the Beauceron (Herding).

How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs

How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs What you’re going to study How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs is a new concept about the trigger, and prevention, of thyroid gland disease. We believe a simple way of life problem that characterizes modern life of today is leading to thyroid gland disorder. It is something you can test for yourself, on yourself. And also the concept itself can change the way technology considers thyroid function. If appropriate, this concept has the potential for considerably decreasing the need for thyroid medicine, and could assist in preventing thyroid disease, possibly leading to substantial loss of revenue for the multi-big thyroid gland treatment business. This information is consequently becoming shared directly using the community without expert evaluation, since the peer testers are part of that treatment industry. The issue is due to a generally recognized feature of the thyroid gland, something which everyone knows about the thyroid, but has failed to recognize as a significant feature. It is due to the position of the organ.A thyroid problem is situated straight beneath and partially round the thyroid gland cartilage material, or even the Adam’s apple, within the throat. Tilt your head back and feel for the most notable cartilage sticking out. That’s the Adam’s apple. Beneath it is your thyroid, in the shape of a butterfly. As the thyroid is on the outside of the Adam’s apple, inside is the larynx, or tone of voice container. You can tell this by placing your hand in your thyroid and whistling. Try this. Sound by stating, InchMMMMMMMMM”. Then express it even louder and even louder, until you are yelling. You’ll really feel your thyroid moving. The even louder you hum, the greater it vibrates. What happens to the thyroid How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs if this vibrates? A thyroid problem is filled with a carbamide peroxide gel-like material that is the storage space type of thyroid gland hormonal. The carbamide peroxide gel produces hormone once the thyroid is massaged, which is why massage counselors avoid neck massages for hyperthyroid individuals. There have also been medical research that demonstrate certain kinds of work-related vibrations trigger problems for a thyroid problem. A thyroid problem is clearly impacted by vibrations. It is logical, then, to summarize that the vibration from the thyroid by using your tone of voice also energizes the release of thyroid gland hormone. This is a natural mechanism your body has for thyroid gland stimulation. This could also explain why Nature has created a thyroid problem to become surrounding the tone of voice box. In the knowledge, Nature created a way that our activity level may influence our thyroid function.Which makes sense when you consider the function of thyroid gland hormonal. This hormone is responsible for overall metabolic rate. An excessive amount of thyroid hormonal, and also you basically burn up. Too low, and also you can’t get the fireplace began. Then when your life is full of excitement and excitement, and you speak, sing, or shout a great deal, your thyroid gets stimulated to release much more hormone, stoking your that will fire and keeping your power up. If you have times during the becoming peaceful and peaceful, your voice receives a rest and your fire will get rejected. The neck is essentially functioning being an activity indicator, since activity is usually associated with utilizing one’s tone of voice. We are social creatures, and our actions usually include other people that we talk by using our tone of voice. And this is true for other sociable animals, too. Categories of social animals keep in continuous expressive get in touch with together, whether it’s geese honking, chickens clucking, dogs barking, or people chatting. In most mammals and most vertibrates, a thyroid problem gland is associated with expressive structures.Which raises an issue regarding silence humans. If the thyroid is triggered by vocalizing, and when the person is silence, then you would anticipate that individual to have an understimulated thyroid. Certainly, that is the situation. One of the typical issues silence kids face as they grow up is their thyroid does not perform correctly, plus they quickly are put on life time thyroid medication. But let’s say these silence children had their throats vibrated on their behalf, perhaps by some tone of voice simulator? Or let’s say they had their thyroids massaged? Surely, some thing could be completed to replace the lost excitement caused by mutism. Regrettably, the link in between vocalization and thyroid perform isn’t regarded as, so these therapeutic options to drugs are not tried.

How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs

How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs Of course, mutism may be the severe case of underutilization from the voice. What about the millions of talking individuals, mostly ladies, who’re becoming informed they have reduced thyroid gland and want lifetime medication and visits to the doctor? Could a few of these individuals be underutilizing their sounds, as well? Are individuals nowadays not talking around they accustomed to?When you consider the reality of modern life of today, that may definitely be the case. For example, individuals utilized to speak to each other personally or over the telephone. Now, they e-mail instead of while using phone. We can contact people all over the world, however that communication is digital, not vocal. Then there have been the evenings, not long ago, when individuals accustomed to sit down with each other and browse publications out loud, tell stories, and perform songs. Individuals created their very own entertainment, which generally involved utilizing their sounds. Now, people silently pay attention to apple ipods, view movies, or browse the Internet. We now eat entertainment, rather than producing our very own.We have less How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs contact with others in our daily lives. Many jobs today involve small get in touch with with others, except within the pc. People these days are working at home, further reducing interpersonal get in touch with. More and more people are living on your own, too, due to record divorce rates and a general trend in the direction of solitary residing. For most people, there’s just no one to speak to.These people may be struggling with their silence having an understiomulated thyroid. They might benefit from singing, huming, rubbing their throats, or even letting a purring kitty apply their throats. They need throat excitement to have their fires burning up.However, you will find those who excessive use their voices, and overstimulate their thyroids. Hyperthyroidism is assigned to stress, and lots of those who have tension in their life shout. Yelling really vibrates a thyroid problem, and may cause vibrational injury. This could cause an excessive amount of hormonal to be sold, resulting in temporary hyperthyroidism before the vibrational injury can heal. Actually, many instances of high thyroid gland improve by themselves, assuming a doctor hasn’t already destroyed a thyroid problem with radioactive iodine or surgery. We have currently documented a number of situation backgrounds of people who developed hyperthyroidism after encountering several weeks of tension that incorporated extreme suits of yelling. So that’s the excellent discovery. The thyroid vibrates if you use your voice, which stimulates the thyroid to exude hormone. It’s an additional axis for thyroid hormone manage, combined with the well recognized suggestions mechanism from the brain’s hypothalmus and pituitary. It is something which is apparent, and yet went unrecognized by medicine. Possibly informing someone to talk or sing more is not something which fits well into the medical pharmacopeia.Obviously, this theory How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs nevertheless requirements more study. Despite its sensibility and the helping proof quickly mentioned previously, there have to be biochemical studies. But these research must be funded, and drug companies, and also the government agencies they influence, will probably not want to consider funding them (and if they’re, beware of the results!) Thankfully, you don’t have to wait for a health care industry to views these remarks, (and also the potential impact of this information on drug income and professional fees.) You can start performing at this time, unless, of course, you have higher thyroid, in which case you might want to whisper for some time. And tell your buddies, particularly those who are How Do You Treat Hyperthyroidism In Dogs stressed out, quiet, and informed they have low thyroid. This really is something they can shout about. We’d be happy to know what you think and find out how this helps you. Fellow Dog Owner, If You’d Cry If Your Dog Died, Then You Need To See This!

Discover The Deadly Secret The Dog Food Industry Spends Millions To Make Sure You Never Find Out!

High Fiber Dog Food Dogs

High Fiber Dog Food Dogs For the dog, kitty as well as uncover enthusiasts available (I am a canine lover) you really need to look at this. If you would like your pet to possess a lengthy, happy, wholesome existence I will tell you something that is going to do just that and save you a lot of money along the way, so make sure you read on.As a pet owner and enthusiast I’ve usually wanted the very best for my canines. I have two dogs an excellent Dane cross Fluff Mastiff known as Hannibal and a Kick boxer called Ralphie. Each my canines experienced a lot of problems with dog food. Ralphie constantly experienced diarrhea and a lot of stomach upsets and Hannibal was usually slow and looked stressed out and that he was just 11 several weeks old.I began going on canine High Fiber Dog Food Dogs forums and finally came across an eating plan called the BARF diet plan. Everyone was enthused about how far better it had been for them, and also how much less expensive it’s.What is BARF?BARF stands for Bones And Raw Food or Biologically Suitable Uncooked Food, based on which publications you study. The basic theory is to nourish an eating plan the creatures have developed to consume, or to put it one other way as character meant.Dogs & cats (and kits) made it for centuries without a commercial dog food producer around the corner there are records of wolves living to around 35 years old! All of us imagine dogs living spoiled resides in modern civil countries, but surprisingly they are also flourishing in African communities, crazy in Ounce as Dingoes, nevertheless hunting victim in deserts, and so forth and no, they do not have yellow, unclean oral plaque buildup-emblazoned teeth or gingivitis.Cats and dogs within the crazy lived away entire carcasses such as the internal organs, and also the contents of the belly which usually consists of floor lower, partially broken down vegetation that contains essential nutrients.A BARF giving weight loss program is as close to character as possible get with the proper blend your pets will reside a more happy wholesome existence. We hope this information helps you on your way.Why I started feeding my dog BarfI must say I started feeding my canines the BARF diet plan because of wellness factors, that is most evident, but having two big dogs or should I say one very big dog and a pretty large dog they consumed a lot, ultimately I was having to pay about 80 ($ 158) per month providing them with food dog food. Now I spend between 20 and 30 ($ 39-Dollar59) monthly on BARF, an impact! Why I’d by no means return to High Fiber Dog Food Dogs commercial dog foodBecause researching the Barf diet and how great it is for them I was disgusted to find out how horrible dog food is for a dog. I also couldn’t think veterinarians purposefully assistance these companies when they should know they are putting junk within their products. I am talking about they put unhealthy beef into pet food, additionally they put corn into pet food knowing full well that canines find it hard to absorb. Additionally they put preservative chemicals into pet food knowing full well they are able to trigger cancer, sweetening which in turn causes health issues as well as meals colouring that is also linked to health issues, in addition a lot more poor things. The number of dogs do you hear about dying of most cancers nowadays? A lot may be the solution! So that will help you that again. If you’re feeding your dog dog food, there’s a 99.99Percent opportunity that your dog will eat unhealthy meat, corn, cancer causing preservative chemicals, sweetening and meals colouring which has been associated with bad health, no wonder canines only reside to eight-10 years of age nowadays. And vets know this, if they do not perhaps they ought to consider another vocation?! Yet most veterinarians nevertheless continue to support these companies who are only considering coating their greedy pockets, when you are unknowingly and gradually eliminating poor old Sammy or Area! What BARF does for your dogHere are some pointers I’ve discovered along the way.o Decreased doggie odour – This can be a reality in my canines anyway. The quantity of blowing wind my dogs passed when eating dog food accustomed to cause me to feel really feel sick hehe.o Naturally cleans teeth – no requirement for High Fiber Dog Food Dogs tooth brushes, de-scaling jobs, aids in preventing gums and teeth – This is especially true, even though you do not choose to nourish your dog barf give him/her a bone a day as my dogs tooth are now brighter than mine!

High Fiber Dog Food Dogs

High Fiber Dog Food Dogs

High Fiber Dog Food Dogs o Time it takes for any canine to munch a raw meaty bones give their stomach time to get the acids shifting – Additionally they appear to apply more energy which will keep them fitter.o Creates stronger bar stools with decreased quantity – This is also true. After I fed my canines pet food, their poo am runny there wasn’t any way I could get it.o Can reduce vet bills (healthier canines) – We’ve covered this over.to Affordable to give in comparison to industrial dog foods – Most surely accurate. A pig’s mind require me to pay 70p that most likely about Dollar1.30 or something like that. (You don’t have to nourish your canines pigs head if you don’t want, lots of people would not lol)to Decorative mirrors what nature meant them to consume within the wild – I am a firm believer in this.to Young puppies develop in a more appropriate rate and fast development bursts are prevented. A GOOD breeder may wish to quit fast development in any pup. – I’m not a breeder and I have to say I didn’t notice different growth rates when i started my one canine when he was 11 several weeks around the BARF diet.o The ripping and chewing involved in High Fiber Dog Food Dogs eating uncooked meaty bones evolves the mouth, throat, and shoulder muscles of a dog – This is extremely true, my canines appear a lot larger than their typical size for that breed. They also have very well developed heads legs and shoulders. Actually I have been considering getting into my Boxer (Ralphie) into a muscle building contest. If they’ve got him.o Much better weight control which reduces the symptoms of arthritis and obesity. – I will tell you that my dogs can eat double the amount raw beef compared to what they would pet food but they are slimmer than after i given them commercial dog food, plus they look like athletes compared to the other canines in my area.Victim Design Diet planThere is another diet which I believe I am now gradually transforming to and that is the prey model diet. This diet is designed to totally mimic what dogs/wolves used to consume in the crazy. As canines are carnivores and never omnivores many people recommend they do not need vegetables (the raw food bit in BARF) within their diet plan. Some say canines might have consumed the stomach contents of their victim which may have meant they’d consume vegetables, some say they wouldn’t have eaten the stomach contents High Fiber Dog Food Dogs so they would of just consumed the meat. Things I can tell is my dogs (Hannibal & Ralphie) similar to their beef a lot better than their vegetables, after seeing how strong and healthy my canines look after consuming beef I have gradually converted over to the Prey Model Diet plan.ConclusionI will not continue once again about dog food as it disgusts me and I’ll only get finished up, but what I will say is this. I love my dogs greatly and that i couldn’t feed my dogs dog food and live with personally after knowing what I know now about this. I’m able to truthfully tell you just how my dogs are a lot more livelier, fitter, more powerful, happier and healthier since they eat proper meat than when they were eating that junk. They really get excited when it’s the evening meal, and also the initial few times we (my spouse and i) fed them BARF meals Ralphie was jumping as much as my shoulder peak and Hannibal was nearly to jumping up to the top of my head (Really humorous to look at). It’s very easy to feed them now, I just toss them lower some meat out my back garden depart them for an hour, whether it’s all gone then great if they’ve had sufficient then I get it, place it in a chillier container and give it to them later on (they get given twice a day). It’s quicker than providing them with tinned food.I really hope this article will have made a number of you believe and hopefully convert you to definitely feeding your pet either the BARF or Victim Design Diet plan. Remember a contented dog is a wholesome canine, and who wants to see their dog pass away of some terrible disease and need to pay for the vets bills when a simple diet plan change can help you save money and first and foremost save your dogs existence!!

Meet Gizmo D. Wienerdog.

Found running loose on the side of the expressway, this little pup was saved by a kind-hearted lady and then quickly found his way into my home — and into my heart.

Ever see a puppy in a quandary? Take a moment to enjoy the video — silly Gizmo loves his squeaky toy.

As I heard someone say recently, he’s my ‘Ham and Cheese’!

He’s also smart and sweet, a wriggly, snuggly, loving soul who’s gotten a second chance at life.

It just goes to show that rescued, abandoned and shelter dogs make the very best of pets. You don’t have to buy a dog to get a great companion. You can adopt one.

Tragically, most thrown-away and shelter dogs don’t see happy endings, but we can change that. All it takes is being aware, and having a heart. The extra mile you go will be repaid a thousand times over.

Next time you want to add a new best friend to your family, please consider adopting a shelter dog, stray or rescue.

*Thank you to Jessica for saving Gizmo and bringing him to me to love.

** The link is to the Coweta County Animal Shelter/ Shelter Rescue in Georgia, but the same sad scenario plays out in every city, every day. You can make a difference!

Please make a difference. Save a life. Adopt your next pet.

Carrots are an excellent source of natural nutrition and offer amazing health benefits for dogs such as:

Dogs actually need some vegetables in their diet because they contain many important health-promoting nutrients from a natural source. Many of those nutrients are the ones that are often lacking in commercial dog foods, and natural source vitamins are much more effective than synthetic vitamins.

HOW TO PREPARE AND FEED OLEWO DEHYDRATED CARROTS:

how to feed carrots for dogs step 1DIRECTIONS: Rehydrate the recommended daily amount of Olewo Dehydrated Carrots according to bodyweight of the dog (refer to feeding chart on bag) in some warm water. how to feed carrots for dogs step 2DIRECTIONS:  The addition of a small amount of oil (refer to feeding chart on bag) is recommended to help convert more of the beta-carotene to the beneficial vitamin A, but is optional.  Good oils to use are salmon oil, flax seed oil, organic coconut oil; but most oils you have in your kitchen will do, even olive oil. Oil should not be added for puppies because puppy food already has a higher fat content; when feeding performance dog foods, which are also higher in fat; or for seniors because they simply don’t need the added oil.

how to feed carrots for dogs step 3DIRECTIONS: Steep for 10 minutes in warm water until the carrot pellets are completely rehydrated.  Then add to the dog’s regular food such as dry kibble, canned dog food, raw dog food, or home cooked meals.

Are you looking at your dog’s stool?

We have asked this question many times while we had a local pet store.  Some customers were examining their dog’s stool, and others responded “Heck no, why would I want to look at my dog’s poop?”  It really is important to know what your dog’s stool normally looks like to determine if there is a problem when there is a concern.

Keep your dog hydrated!

A big concern during episodes of diarrhea is dehydration.  Make sure your dog has plenty of water to keep him or her hydrated!  If necessary, use a syringe to force your dog to ingest some water.  During this time of discomfort, it may be hard to get your dog interested in drinking or eating at all.  Even in this situation, Olewo Carrots come to the rescue.  Since Olewo Carrots need to be rehydrated with water, your dog will automatically ingest some much needed liquid.  Dogs love the taste of Olewo Carrots and they will most likely eat it, even if they are not interested in eating anything else.  In this situation, the rehydrated Olewo Carrots can be given by itself, and not mixed in with other food.

In most cases it is okay to try and remedy diarrhea at home before seeking medical attention, especially with the common causes of diarrhea listed below.

DIET

Diet is one of the most common causes for diarrhea.  With puppies, any change in diet can cause diarrhea because their digestive system is so young and has difficulty digesting new foods.  Adult dogs can get diarrhea because the dog food they are fed may not be ideal, it may be too high in fat or protein, may have irritating additives, or the dog may be allergic to one or some of the dog food ingredients.  Switching to a new dog food can also cause diarrhea if the transition happened to fast.  The dog may have also eaten something that wasn’t meant for consumption or may have eaten something that was unhealthy, like many treats that are on the market.

STRESS

Stress is the other common cause for diarrhea.  We often don’t think about it, but dogs can experience a tremendous amount of stress when left alone for long periods of time, when left in a confined area, when traveling, when going to the vet, groomer, or boarding facility. Dogs can even feel the tension when being around stressed people, and get nervous. Many adopted dogs may have experienced abuse and may never loose the nervousness, even if they end up in a loving home, which is the case with one of our own dogs.

DOG BREEDS PRONE TO DIGESTIVE ISSUES

Some dog breeds such as Australian Shepherds, Boxers, German Shepherds, Great Danes, Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs, Terriers and others are simply prone to digestive issues and often have soft stools.

SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION

If the diarrhea does not improve, seek medical attention!  When dogs have liquid diarrhea, they may have a viral or intestinal infection.  If the condition persists, seek medical attention because of the high risk of dehydration in this situation. Any time there is blood in the stool or diarrhea, your dog could be experiencing a serious health problem.  Seek medical attention immediately!

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN TREATMENT

Olewo Dehydrated Carrots should be added to your dog’s regular meals daily to prevent diarrhea and other digestive issues.  The beta-carotene in dogs continuously repairs the intestinal lining and maintain good digestive health.  Prevention is always better than treatment!

Please note that Olewo Carrots is the ORIGINAL carrot product for dogs, and the only carrot product on the market that allows dogs to absorb and benefit from the many health-promoting nutrients found in carrots.  The same results cannot be achieved by feeding raw carrots, cooked carrots, or any other carrot product.

Information Disclaimer: Information provided on the Olewo Blog is intended for informational purposes only.  This site does not provide medical advice, and is not meant to substitute for medical advice provided by your veterinarian.

carrots for dogsCarrots are an excellent source of natural nutrition and offer amazing health benefits for dogs including a quick cure for Dog Diarrhea.

Many pet owners however don’t realize that dogs are not able to properly digest raw carrots, and therefore the valuable nutrients cannot be absorbed.

Olewo Carrots were developed over 35 years ago and are in the proper form for dogs to get the full benefits from this nutrient-rich vegetable.

The carrot is the king of all vegetables because it is the richest source of beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A).  Beta-carotene is also a powerful antioxidant.  Carrots provide a great source of fiber, contain excellent amounts of vitamin B group factors, vitamins C, D, E, K, and other nutrients such as calcium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium and much more. Dogs actually need some vegetables in their diet because they contain many important health-promoting nutrients from a natural source.  Many of those nutrients are the ones that are often lacking in commercial pet foods, and natural source vitamins are much more effective that synthetic vitamins.

Proper preparation of the carrots is the key to increase their digestibility so that dogs are able to absorb their many health-promoting nutrients.

Raw Carrots

Carrots contain cellulose, which cannot be digested by dogs.  Dogs may enjoy eating raw carrots, but the chewed pieces simply pass through their digestive system with most of the nutrients not absorbed.  If you take a close look, you can see the pieces in the dog’s poop just they way they were swallowed.

Cooked Carrots

One of the most valuable ingredients in carrots is the beta-carotene which gets converted to vitamin A in the dog’s body and delivers many of the health benefits.  Beta-carotene however is very sensitive to light and heat.  Carrots are at the peak of their nutritional level at the time of harvest, and the exposure to light after harvest causes     carrots to loose valuable beta-carotene.  Depending on how fresh the carrots are when they are bought, they may already have low levels of beta-carotene.  If the carrots are then exposed to heat during cooking, more of the valuable beta-carotene and other nutrients will be destroyed.

Carrots in other Pet Products

Now that we know carrots are not only sensitive to light, but also to heat, it explains why carrots as an ingredient in pet food won’t deliver much benefit.  Kibble as well as canned dog food is highly processed and cooked at high temperatures that destroy the beta-carotene and other nutrients.  Freeze-dried chucks of carrots added to some pet foods or found in vegetable dog food mixes are typically too big and therefore won’t be properly digested to absorb the nutrients.  You might also find some carrot products offered in powder form, either offered as a supplement, sprickle-on, or in a vegetable dog food mix. This is also not the ideal form because with powder, the entire surface is exposed to light and air, and as a result the valuable beta-carotene will only be retained for a certain period of time.

OLEWO Dehydrated Carrots

Olewo Carrots are highly nutritious and properly prepared for dogs to absorb and benefit from all the health-promoting nutrients in carrots.  Here are a few reasons why:

  • Grown in Northern Germany known for its extremely fertile soil

  • Olewo grows a special variety of carrot that is rich in beta-carotene

  • Carrots go into preparation immediately after harvest

  • Proprietary preparation method of forming highly nutritious carrots into a pellet structure ensures maximum capture and preservation of the valuable beta-carotene and other nutrients.

  • Retains nutrients and effectiveness

  • Delivers fast and visible results such as cure from diarrhea, healthy digestion, healthy skin & coat, strong immune system, and much more.

  • Trusted & Proven for over 35 years!

In summary, yes, carrots are good for dogs, but only Olewo Carrots deliver the benefits you want for your dog to maintain good overall health and prevent the many common ailments.  It almost seems to easy that something as simple as carrots can keep our dogs healthy, but the fact is that what Mother Nature provided us with long time ago, works so much better than the new products that are flooding the pet food market.  While you can’t trust many of the new companies and new products on the market because they have no proven track record, you can trust Olewo with the health of your pets!

Olewo Seal                                                                                                            We constantly receive testimonials from customers who can attest to the improvements in overall health, energy, and vitality as a result of adding Olewo Carrots and Olewo Red Beets to their pet’s diet.

Amy

Our three Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs get Olewo Red Beets in the morning and Olewo Carrots in the evening. The Vet asked me last time I brought them in for their annual exam what my secret was to keeping them so healthy. That’s when I pulled out my Olewo samples from my purse! Their rust colors have a rich copper sheen and their coats shine every day thanks to Olewo.  Amy R., Illinois

Four healthy dogsThe whole Household eats Olewo Carrots and Olewo Red Beets from the 100 lb Dutch Shepherd and 55 lb German Shepherd to the  6.8 lb and 3.5 lb Chihuahua. Their coats have amazing pigment and texture, and they have rock solid digestive systems that handle stress of training, traveling and anything else life throws at them.” Aviva M., Virginia

Champion Great Dane“As a breeder and exhibitor of Great Danes, I am thrilled with the results I am seeing with adding Olewo Red Beets and Olewo Carrots to my dog’s food. I am seeing shinier, softer coats, and the two dogs that I have with some skin irritations have improved as well in just 2 weeks. Stools are also firmer and my picky eater loves the carrots. With traveling a lot and being around many different dogs, I am happy that the products also help boost their immune system. So many benefits from adding just a couple of tablespoons of Olewo a day. I will definitely be sticking with this product!.”  Melonie E., Georgia WCK Danes

German Shepherd Dogs“When my two GSDs Quendy & Brisko were young, I struggled getting them a good diet that would work with their sensitive digestive system that most German Shepherds have. Then I found Olewo Carrots.  No more problems and they are extremely healthy! Great skin & coat, no more rashes or allergies, and no more digestive problems period! Their coats are so intense and smooth. Anyone with this breed who loves them as much as I do, owes it to their pets to add Olewo to their diet!” David R., Illinois

Horse with dull coat

Horse with shiny coatThe picture on the top is Bella on August 10, 2011 (before using Olewo). The picture on the bottom was taken this morning on November 11, 2011.  She has been on Olewo Carrots and Olewo Red Beets for only 1 month now. Her coat is smoother and much shinier.  Her hooves look better and are stronger. And most of all, she had a problem with her eye a while back and lost her vision in that eye. Well, she is seeing out of the eye again! We had it confirmed by her Vet. It is not perfect vision but she responds to movement. Truly amazing!  Sara A., Florida

French Lop DoeWe have been feeding our French Lop Doe, Clover, the Olewo Small Animal Mix since we brought her home from the county fair in August of 2011. We give her one scoop on top of her pellets once a day. We can barely get it in her bowl because as we are pouring in the Olewo she is nudging our hand out of the way so she can get to it. Clover is a very big bunny of 12lbs but she is healthy as can be, we have never had a problem with her at all and she is the softest thing you have ever felt. She loves Olewo and we love the results we see from feeding it!”  Jody T., Illinois

How to Make a Walking Sling for a Dog

How to Make a Walking Sling for a Dog

Occasionally your dog may need a little help walking. This is especially true if he suffers from hip dysplasia or joint pain due to an injury. In addition, older dogs may exhibit joint pain when going up and down stairs. Although commercial dog slings are available, you can make one easily for short term use.

Instructions

    1

Cut a large bath towel in half lengthwise and slip one end under your dog’s lower abdomen. Bring both ends up and hold together firmly, applying upward pressure to assist your dog when getting into a car or up some stairs. This isn’t optimal for long term usage but you can use it in a pinch.

    2

Wrap your dog’s abdomen lightly with an elastic athletic bandage, leaving 18 inches free on each end to bring up on either side of your dog and tie together, making a handle. This is a better choice if your dog will be spending a longer period in the sling as the elastic bandage, when wrapped around a few times distributes the pressure over a larger area.

    3

Recycle a child’s jacket when you need an insulated dog sling. Measure around your dog’s abdomen and take the measurement to a local used clothing store. Locate a child’s jacket that measures about an inch longer in circumference.

    4

Cut the sleeves off, leaving an inch or so and sew straps on the sides long enough that you can comfortable hold onto them while your dog is walking. If the coat has a hood or large collar, remove them along with an additional section to allow male dogs to urinate. You can spend extra time and seam up the raw cuts for a doggy sling that will last for months.

    5

Allow your dog to step into a converted coat/sling as opposed to slipping it on him as he lies down. If two people are walking or your dog is large, slip a broom handle through the straps and allow each person to hold one end.

Dog Names: Choosing The Right One, The First Time by Richard Livitski

After searching long and hard, you’ve finally found the perfect dog. So what’s next?… Finding the perfect dog name of course!

Considering that over the course of your puppies lifetime his name will be used over 30,000 times, and that 1 in 5 new dog owners want to change their dogs name in the first year, choosing the right puppy name should be given as much care and thought as you showed when finding your pooch in the first place.

Below I’ve listed 10 dog naming tips taken from my website to be mindful of when looking for the right name, they are…

1. Avoid names that sound like common commands such as Go, Stay, Sit, etc. This might cause confusion for your puppy when trying to train it.

2. Be mindful that your dog might outgrow it’s name. The name Buttercup might be appropriate for a cute puppy, but not when it becomes a full grown Great Dane!

3. Choose a name with one or two syllables. Dogs not only learn it quicker, but it makes them easier to train as well.

4. Watch out for trendy names that might cause embarrassment once the trend is passed. Do you want people to realize from your dog’s name that you were once a big fan of Disco?

5. If you’ve adopted an older dog, it’s best to keep her current name so that it doesn’t become confused. If for some reason you must change it, consider a name that sounds similar or rhymes.

6. Beware of the common trend to name dogs after people. Though doing so is not a bad thing in itself, if you name your pup after a friend or family member, they might take offense. Although you might think naming your dog Sally after your favorite Aunt is an honor, Aunt Sally might not. Also, be kind to your dog and name her after someone you like.

7. Does the dog name rhyme with something negative? Or maybe with the name of a family member or friend? Once discovered, you might be one of those 1 in 5 people who want to change their dogs name!

8. Stay away from potentially embarrassing names. The name “Pee Wee” might be funny at first, but as the joke gets old, how will you feel in a year or so when you have to call “Pee Wee” home at night?

9. Pick a name that matches your dogs own unique appearance or personality. The name Electra might be a good name for an energetic pooch, but not for one that like’s to sleep all day.

10. Ask your dog what he thinks! Since it’s going to be his name, you might want to narrow your search down to your own 5 favorite names, then try them out on your dog. You’d be surprised how well he responds to some, yet yawns at others.
Keeping in mind the above tips when searching for dog names will not only ensure a long, happy friendship with your dog, but also help to avoid a mid-life name change.

When Richard Livitski isn’t busy running around after his own dogs, he’s busy searching for more unique, cool and funny dog names for http://www.dog-names-and-more.com where dog names as well as other helpful dog related topics can be found.

How to Treat a Dog"s Stomach Ache

Like a small child, your dog can’t tell you when he has a stomach ache. Similar to a small child, the first warning you are likely to get that all is not right with your dog’s digestive track is when he vomits on your carpet. Fortunately, the treatment for a dog’s stomach ache is not terribly different from how you would treat your own. With diet and some basic over-the-counter medications, your best canine friend can be back to normal in no time.

Instructions

    1

Start with the treats. Some dogs can have an averse digestive reaction to rawhide chew treats. If your dog is one of them, you’ll know pretty much immediately and the solution is simple–ban all future rawhide treats from your home. It is also common for treats high in fat to cause similar digestive upset. For example, the soft treats that look like miniature steaks are particularly hard for some dogs to digest, so their system gets rid of them–all over the floor. If your dog is having a chronic upset stomach, start a log of what treats he is getting and when, and see if there is any connection.

    2

Feed the bland. When you feel sick, you tend to gravitate toward bland food–crackers, broth and toast–to help settle your stomach. What works for you can work for your dog as well. Try feeding him low sodium chicken broth, or a mixture of boiled rice and boiled hamburger (or boiled chicken) for a day or two until his tummy settles down.

    3

Go for the pink. While there are not many over-the-counter medications for people that also work on dogs, Pepto-Bismol is one of them. One or two spoonfuls should be enough for your dog, depending on his size. Please note that dogs generally do not like the taste of Pepto-Bismol (especially the wintergreen kind), and will resist. You will want to attempt dosage in an easily cleaned area like the kitchen–or better yet, outside.

    4

If your dog just cannot seem to stop the cycle, give him some Benadryl. Dogs don’t process Benadryl like we do, and will simply “mellow out” if you give yours one tablet per 10 lbs. of weight. Maybe just a little rest is all your dog needs to get his tummy under control.

    5

Give your dog a break. An otherwise healthy dog can actually benefit from a weekly day of fasting, and a sick dog may just need to completely “clean out the system” in order to stop feeling sick. If your dog cannot keep a meal of boiled rice and ground beef down, try not feeding him anything for 24 hours before you feed him again. Make sure that he has plenty of fresh water.
