Get a Knife, Get a Dog, but Get Rid of Guns

By Molly Ivins (page 161 of Norton Reader)

Molly Expresses how she feels about guns. She does state, “I am not anitgun. I’m progun.” She is not 100% against the idea of having a gun. Using a knife has a lot of downsides, such as having direct contact. You have to also catch the person you are trying to harm. The only plus side to having a knife is the exercise you will receive by chasing you target.

The second amendment allows any citizen of the United States to keep and bear arms. Molly Ivins completely agres with the law. There are many cases that argue with the second amendment and the extents that it goes to. The constitution its self has to many objectifactions to what it is saying. It allows a lot of things but in fact denies a lot of the laws attributes.

Many people in fact do argue that “guns do not kill people, people kill people”. In fact the purpose of a gun is intentially to kill your oppponent. The author refers to the movie Jurassic Park which implies that power without disiipline is making this society  into a wreckage.

Get a dog. who can protect you and your home from intruders and invasions. Weapons like guns and knives can kill someone even without the intent of the person holding the weapon. A lot of these deaths are 100% accidental. So Ivin implies a question, what is the core reason of owning a weapon? A dog is having power and being able to disicpline it. Death does not have to be the caused of self denfense.

If you raise you child in  society with all these ideas hat welding a weapon is ok. Our youth will kill themselves and eachother. All without the understanding of having power in yourself.
