Renuzit Adjustables Cones Are Now Decor Friendly! (Product Review and Giveaway)

Disclosure / Disclaimer: I received these products, free of charge, from Renuzit, via the Purex Insiders Program, for review purposes on this blog. I was compensated for this review, but  I was not told what to say, or how to post about the product.

Ah Renuzit….

You know the, you’ve probably had them in your house most of your life,

and  if you are of a certain age, you may remember your grandma

making cozies to cover them with!

Yes, I know….

I am happy to tell you that the days of having to COVER

your Renuzit Adjustable Cones are over!

renuzit logo

Yup, that’s right, Renuzit Adjustable Cones have been redesigned to be decor friendly,

no matter what your style!

And with so many Renuzit Adjustables Cone scents to choose from, that you don’t have to

pick only one, you can choose them all, for every room in your home!

I was sent 4 of the scents to try out: After the Rain, Simply Vanilla, Tahitian Breeze and Hawaiian Oasis!  I kept 3 of them at home- the black, uber cool looking cones, went into the upstairs TV/craft room and upstairs bathroom:

Miss Grace and I love the smell of Tahitian Breeze in the sitting room while crafting and watching TV, and as that room isn’t getting as much use now that school has started, the cone has gotten rid of any musty smell! Hawaiian Oasis landed in the bathroom, because as Miss Grace said, it’s beach theme matched the decor! LOL as she is right, it IS a beach themed bathroom, that now smells like a lovely Hawaiian garden, and not a bathroom!

The special premium black decor cones also come in Red Velevet, Limoncello Sorbert, Creme Brulee and Chocolate Covered Cherries scents! All of which are perfect for the holiday season! There are 12 other scents in the newly designed white cones to choose from as well!

After the Rain landed in the downstairs bathroom, well AFTER the cat tested it out! As you can see, she was enchanted with the new design, and had to give it her ‘nose of approval’!

Simply Vanilla was a little strong for us, so I took it off to work, and our office now smells less like a locker room (what happens when you work with a bunch of guys) and more like a slightly aromaed space!

But we needed more cones, so off I went to Wal-mart for more! We have a smaller store, so these were the only new redesigned cones that were available:

I picked up some Super Odor killer cones for the litter box area, as Sweetie had ‘her surgery, aka no more kittens for us!’ and has had to be inside, and that meant a litter box in the house again. Ugh, we had just gotten used to not having one! But before the cones got home, they took a trip around the store:

And yes, a certain Louisiana based series is hot and popular at the store this week.

Can you guess which shirt Miss Grace got besides her new pillow?

Naturally we had to check out the black and gold items, as the pro football season starts THURSDAY! Of course, I’m already hunting down some Saints ribbon to decorate our black Renuzit Adjustable Cones with, because ya gotta have some fan spirit, right????

Sigh, Halloween candy is ALREADY out,

and our Renuzit’s claimed their favorite ones, are they yours????

Want something as sweet as Halloween candy?

Black German Shepherd - Intelligent, Active, Friendly Dogs

Dog in woods A Comprehensive Overview Of German ShepherdsGerman Shepherds are terrific dogs to own. Just ask anyone who owns one now or has owned one in the past. They make for excellent companions and also serve a lot of useful functions for many government agencies and other non-profits. But honestly what do you know about them? Do you know their history?

The whole principle behind the reason why German Shepherds were bred was to serve as a working dog. Many who own one now may have a deviated version of the original breed and as such may own a dog that may suffer from some health issues. As these dogs became popular to own, as pets, some of the original breeders started to complain as they were breeding their German Shepherds with other dogs and not keeping the breed pure.

While this dog is popular now, during the First World War and the Second World War this breed was decidedly unpopular due to its origin and name. Many people did not want to be associated with having anything that could be related to the Nazi German culture at that time. During these wars,  this breed of dog was used as a fighter and bomb detector as well this dog helped find enemy soldiers who were hiding.

Since this is a relatively new breed of dog, having originated in 1899, there is not a lot of history so the health and longevity of the dog is still being studied. You may also know this dog as the Alsatian Wolf Dog and as you can imagine this was first bred in Germany. As well the original thought of breeding this dog was to help sheep herders with their flocks, as well as to protect their owners from the wild wolves in the area.

Police dog 667x1024 A Comprehensive Overview Of German ShepherdsThere have been many popular dogs that have achieved fame during its brief lifespan. One such dog was known as Rin Tin Tin, and at that time this dog was the most well known actor in the whole of Hollywood. You may not know this, but two German Shepherds have stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Rin Tin Tin, and Strongheart. No other breed has that same honor.

The versatility of this dog is unquestioned; many times you will see German Shepherds taking on the roles of law enforcement as well as a house pet. Since this dog is a working dog, it can be difficult for this dog to stop working all the time and just relax. Training your dog to know the difference between play and work is vital in order to keep your dog sane and your household safe.

While some German Shepherds may look alike, they actually can vary in appearance. That is because when they originally were bred they were bred to the region or locality, so there is a wide variance in their appearance, but they still have the same abilities as all of the others.

Typically, however, a German Shepherd will have a brown or blonde coat with a dark nose. You may be able to see an entirely black version of this dog. There is very few tan or blond German Shepherds but that color certainly is possible.

Currently it is believed that this breed is third of all the known breeds of dogs for intelligence. So caring for one can be an ordeal if you have to always keep up with your dog. Some owners have complained about their dogs always getting out of their cages or out of their pens. Keeping your dog mentally stimulated while you are away will help prevent any of this from happening.

While these dogs are protective, they can be overly so when it comes to protecting their family. That is why you should socialize your dog early on, so it knows the difference between a friendly stranger and one that is meant to bring harm to your family. Using one as a guard dog in your own home is tricky as you don’t want other family members to be injured by this dog, even if it is just a mistake.

There are some health issues related to this breed such as hip and other joint problems. Mostly this is due to how this dog has deviated from the original breed as well as some other genetic anomalies. One such a problem for many owners to look out for is called Degenerative Myelopathy and only recently a genetic test was invented.

SDog from side A Comprehensive Overview Of German Shepherdsome breeders have been known to sell their German Shepherds for over 100 thousand dollars. Typically a dog that is that expensive has been trained in a lot of skills and is fully capable of protecting your family. Only the super rich would be able to afford a dog such as that. But you can also obtain other highly trained German Shepherds that can act in one role or another that cost a lot less.

The size of this dog does not vary too much. Typically you can expect your dog to be roughly 80 to 100 pounds and 2 feet in length. If you choose to breed your dog, the typical litter size will be roughly anywhere from 5 to 10 puppies. It can cost a lot to breed with a show dog, but the result can be a highly sought after puppy litter as well the dogs traits can be helped with the right breeding.

There are several societies and other groups that are designed to bring dog breeders together to help this type of dog prosper. Since there are some genetic problems breeders, are encouraged to try and get rid of these problems with the right combination of mates for their dogs.

Create a Dog Friendly Back Yard

The warm weather is here and many humans will be planning their gardens for the summertime. When strategically planning out your yard and gardens, don’t forget about your canine companion! Follow these tips for a dog friendly yard.

dog yard

1)      We like to chew, eat and roll around on different plants. Ensure you don’t plant anything that is particularly toxic to dogs. For a comprehensive list of toxic plants, complete with pictures, visit the ASPCA pet-care website.

2)      Utilize organic, non toxic fertilizers, mulches and weed killers in areas where your canine will be playing.  Even just running around on a yard treated with poisonous substances can cause illness.

3)      If your dog loves digging or plowing through your gardens, consider using raised beds with wire fencing or planter pots.

4)      If you live in a suburban or rural area, take care to protect your dog from coyotes or other wildlife. A secure fence is a good deterrent for most large animals.

5)      Ensure that your fence is in good repair and is flush with the ground to prevent escape. If you have a large dog or a jumper, make sure your fence is high enough to keep him effectively contained. Make sure dog houses, wood stacks or other structures are not available for a dog to climb on in order to get over a fence.

6)      Grills can be very enticing when food is cooking. Always supervise your dog if she is running around when the grill is on.

7)      Wood decks can splinter and cut sensitive paw pads. Make sure you have your deck refinished if necessary.

8)      Be sure to effectively clean bodies of water to prevent the buildup of bacteria and pests. Routinely wash and replace the water in kiddie pools or other containers. Treat pools or garden ponds with chlorine or other appropriate treatments.

9)      Many “problem diggers” are just dogs that are hot and trying to find a cool place to lay down. Consider creating a “digging” bed with soft organic mulch and hardy bushes to provide shade.

10)   Keep grass short to reduce tick exposure. If you live in an area where you have poisonous snakes or other dangerous wildlife, critter proof your yard by removing prime habitats like rock piles and wood stacks.

11)   Always provide plenty of clean drinking water. Heat stroke and dehydration can strike quickly on warm days.

12)   Got some extra cash to spare? Add luxurious additions like dog washing stations, custom dog houses and ornamental watering holes.
